Special thanks, love and appreciation to Mr. David Emerick for allowing us to share with all of you, the Oliver's shows he taped back in 1973. We were thrilled to be able to share this with all of you, along with his personal photos he took backstage and the original flyer. Thank you David for allowing us to properly acknowledge Gram's Birthday - and thanks to all of you for appreciating this gift.
We must also thank Will James for continuing his efforts to get Gram recognized and inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I know some of you wonder if Gram really would have cared to be recognized in such a fashion, and the answer is - we will never know. BUT, the real reason is for us to be able to acknowledge his contribution to the musical landscape and heighten his awareness so we can share his beautiful gift of music to others who might not come across his name any other way. You can visit the peition here: http://www.gramparsonspetition.com/ Please support us with your continued patience as we are busy working on so many things that we can't wait to share with all of you for 2012.
The first one being something near and dear to Polly's heart, the resurrection of the Gram Parsons Foundation, so we can continue helping and healing others. We will be celebrating the "official" launch of GPF in March and will be sharing details soon. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 14 2012.
The Foundation was started in 2004 with 100% of the proceeds from the Return to Sin City: A Tribute To Gram Parsons going to the Musicians Assistance Program (MAP). The Foundation has already helped the SIMS Foundation and we will continue to fulfill our mission to to support musicians and artists worldwide with addiction and recovery services. We are motivated by the desire to assist the musical and artistic community by directing and providing solutions to drug and alcohol addiction, and to impart a message of prevention and awareness to the musicians of tomorrow.
To start raising some funds, we began an online charity auction on eBay. With the support of our friends in the music industry, bands, musicians and supporters, we were able to make a modest start and will continue our efforts in the year ahead. If you are interested in visiting our eBay site, please go to www.eBay.com/GramParsonsFoundation
Thanks to all of those who bid and donated to the cause. If you are interested in donating an item, an experience or cash, please email us at email@example.com
We were also so touched by the extreme generousity of Brian Robert Hannon and his band, Co. from South Carolina. Brian lost his best friend and drummer, Kelly Grant, two years ago to addiction and wanted to donate the proceeds from a recent tribute show at the Tin Roof to the Foundation.
Brian's words: "There's a million things u could say about Kelly. he was my best friend since childhood, we went to Catholic school together, and we started Co. together. he was a great drummer, and any success we've ever had as a band was from Kelly's support and his friendship with me. now I have to go on without him. I wanted to donate to GP foundation bc a year has passed since his death, and I just had to do something, to give back somehow, since I cant give back to Kelly. Kelly was a lot like Gram, in that when someone is addicted, it doesn't matter how much you show them you love them, bc there is psychological imprints left over from family that even a best friend cannot compete with. especially when you're playing in a band, you think that you can party all the time, and drugs get involved and it just gets ugly, even though the reasons you started playing music are innocent, those reasons get lost. anyways, I could go on forever about this. thanks for being in touch, and Co. would love to be a part of GP Foundation in any way. We will donate again, next time we will have a bigger show so we can donate more. Happy New Year."
Thank you Brian, Co. and the Tin Roof.
The Gram Parsons Foundation website will be unveiled shortly, and here you will be able to find out more.

You are all wonderful and may your 2012 bring happiness, health and well being.
A wonderful quote from William Ellerly Channing
"I will seek elegance rather than luxury, refinement rather than fashion. I will seek to be worthy more than respectable, wealthy and not rich. I will study hard, think quietly, talk gently, and act frankly. I will listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with an open heart. I will bear all things cheerfully, do all things bravely await occasions and hurry never. In a word I will let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common."
